Upacara
adat yang sakral, yaitu upacara mennsucikan benda-benda pusaka Kerajaan
Bone yang disebut “Mappepaccing Arajang” atau dalam istilah pangadereng
(adat) disebut “Rilangiri dan secara khusus disebut “Mattompang Arajang”Yang
dimaksud dengan Arajang ialah benda atau sekumpulan benda yang sakral
karena memiliki nilai magis dan pernah dipergunakan oleh raja atau
pembesarkerajaan. Benda-benda tersebut disimpan secara khusus dan
sangat dihormati.Pada
zaman dahulu, Mappepaccing Arajang dilaksanakan oleh para Bissu atas
restu raja atau mangkau di dalam ruangan tempat penyimpanan arajang
tersebut. Adapun tahapan prosesi Mattompang Arajang dilaksanakan dengan
tatacara sebagai berikut:
1.Mappaota
Ketua
Adat mempersembahkan Daun Sirih yang diletakkan dalam sebuah Cawan
kepada Bupati Bone sebagai laporan bahwa upacara adat akan segera
dimulai. Selanjutnya diiringi oleh para Bissu ke tempat Arajang.
2.Penjemputan Benda-benda Pusaka dari Tempat Arajang
Puang
Matoa mempersembahkan Sekapur Sirih (Ota) di depan arajang sebagai
ungkapan penghargaan kepada hal-hal gaib sembari memohon izin untuk
membersihkan Arajang. Proses ini diawali dengan seperangkat
bunyi-bunyian dari tempatnya dan diiringi dengan tarian yang disebut “
Sere Aluasu”oleh para Bissu. Secara religius para Bissulah yang
menggerakkan dan memindahkan Arajang atas persetujuan raja, karena
mereka dianggap mengetahui serta mampu berhubungan dengan gaib yang
menyertai Arajang tersebut. Kemudian Arajang diserahkan kepada tokoh
adat, kemudian dibawa ke hadapan Bupati Bone untuk dikeluarkan dari
sarungnya dan diletakkan kembali tanpa sarung.
3.Mattompang
Tokoh
adat membawa Arajang kepada Pattompang untuk disucikan atau ditompang
yang diiringin dengan Gendrang Bali SumangE sampai proses mattompang
selesai. Adapun benda-benda pusaka kerajaan Bone yang disucikan
(ditompang) yaituTerbuat dari emas murni yang terdiri 63 potongan yang
panjangnya 1,77 meter. Pada kedua ujungnya tergantung 2 buah medali
emas yang bertuliskan bahasa Belanda sebagai tanda Penghargaan
Pemerintah Kerajaan Belanda kepada Arung Palakka raja Bone ke-15.
Sembangeng Pulaweng (Salempang Emas);Benda-benda kerajaan yang ditompang (disucikan) anatara lain : *La Tea Ri Duni Sebuah kalewang yang disebut Alameng। Sarung serta hulunya dilapisi emas dan dihiasi intan permata *Lamakkawa Sebuah keris yang disebut Tappi Tata Rapeng yang seluruh sarung dan hulunya dilapisi emas.*La Salaga Sebuah tombak yang pada pegangan dekat mata tombak dihiasi emas. Tombak ini merupakan simbol kehadiran raja.*Alameng Tata Rapeng
Sejenis kalewang yang hulu serta sarungnya berlapis emas dan merupakan
kelengkapan pakaian kebesaran Ade Pitu (Hadat Tujuh semacam legislatif
masa kini)। Setelah
dibersihkan, Arajang diperhadapkan kembali kepada Bupati Bone untuk
disarungkan. Kemudian Tokoh Adat dan para Bissu menuju ke tempat
Arajang untuk menyimpan kembali benda-benda pusaka tersebut ketempat
semula
